Dr. Deng received his Bsc in Applied Mathematics and MSc in Probability and Statistics from Wuhan Univeristy, and received his PhD in Applied Mathematics from City University of Hong Kong. Before joining UIC he served as a research fellow in City University of Hong Kong and HIT Shenzhen Graduate School. Currently Dr. Deng is a committe member of the Uniform Design Association of China, and a member of China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Dr. Deng's research interests include data mining and machine learning, experimental design, data analysis in medical treatment and health, finalcial time series and granular flow etc. Dr. Deng has published a number of related research papers in international journals and was also awarded several research grants in the field of statistics and applied mathematics. Dr. Deng was awarded the President's Award for Teaching and Service at UIC in 2018 and the Nan Yue Excellent Teacher in Guang Dong Province in 2021.
